Car Hire & Driving in Trento, Italy

Welcome to Trento Car Hire, Italy.

Trentino-Alto Adige region Northeast Italy Car Hire

The Italian speaking Trentino – named after Trento, the regional capital – and the German speaking Alto Adige or Sudtirol, differ dramatically in culture as you can see from your hire car on a trip to the Trentino-Alto Adige region of Italy.
However, they do share one feature in common: the majestic Dolomites that form the backdrop to every town and village, as well as a picturesque scene when travelling in your hire car.
The Dolomites are covered in snow for three months of the year and carpeted with exquisite Alpine plants for another three, as perfect as a backdrop to all your trips out in the hire car across the Trentino-Alto Adige region of Italy.

Trento Car Hire

Trento, the capital of the region to which it gave its name, is also the most attractive town in Trentino, as you can discover in your hire car.
Trento has a fine Romanesque cathedral and richly decorated castle, which you can visit in your hire car and Trento’s streets are lined with handsome Renaissance mansions.
Trento is noted as the venue for the Council of Trent, set up by the Catholic Church in about 1545 to consider reforms that might encourage breakaway groups to return to the fold.
The Duomo in Trento, site of some of the council meetings, was built in robust Romanesque style from the 13th century, although it was not completed until 1515. Despite the great time span over which building took place, the builders maintained architectural harmony by ignoring Gothic and Renaissance styles. The result, which you can see today in your hire car while in Trento, is a church of unusual integrity.
You will find the Duomo on Piazza Duomo in your hire car, which is Trento’s main square, first laid out by the Romans as their central market place or forum.
The Museo Diocesano Tridentino, which you will also find on Piazza Duomo in you hire car, is housed in the Palazzo Pretorio, an imposing medieval building that you will find on the eastern side of the piazza in your hire car. The museums contents include early ivory reliquaries, Flemish tapestries and paintings depicting the Council of Trent.
The Castello del Buonconsiglio, which you will find on Via Bernardo Clesio in your hire car in Trento, was built in the 13th century and later enlarged with additional buildings as part of defence of Trento.
Trento was an important frontier on the main road linking Italy to northern Europe, so defence was vital, in fact thick walls still encircle Trento, which you may witness in your hire car.
Inside Trento’s large castle you will also find the magnificent Magno Palazzo, which was built for the ruling prince-bishops of Trento around 1530; the Museo Provinciale, which contains paintings, ceramics and 15th century wood carvings together with prehistoric, Etruscan and Roman items; finally the Torre dell’Aquilla or Eagle Tower which contains frescoes painted around 1400 – all of which you can visit in your hire car while in Trento.
Immediately to the west of Trento in your hire car, a scenic round trip along a winding road leads up the north flank of Monte Bondone and back to Trento, vis Vezzano, down the western slopes. The views along the route from your hire car are magnificent, in particular from Vaneze and Vason.
To the east of Trento in your hire car, Pergine marks the start of the Val Sugana, a broad valley with attractive and popular lakes for you to explore in your hire car. In the hills north of Lake Levico in your hire car lies the spa town of Levico Terme, distinguished by elegant Neo-Classical buildings set amid beautiful wooded parkland; a wonderful place to explore in your hire car while in Trento.
