Southampton Airport Information
Since the opening of the newly fitted terminal in December 1994, Southampton International Airport has positioned itself as the premier business airport for central southern England with over 300,000 passengers passing through the airport a year.
From Southampton Airport, business and leisure passengers can reach approximately 22 direct destinations with 10 different airlines, together with over 200 long haul worldwide destinations via six key hubs including Amsterdam, Brussels, Paris, Frankfurt, Manchester and Dublin.
How to get to Southampton Airport The airport is less than a mile from Junction 5 of the M27 motorway. It is only four miles from Southampton, 20 miles from Portsmouth and nine miles from Winchester. With the M3 a mile away, it provides fast routes to Basingstoke (24 miles /30 minuets approx) and London Waterloo (75 miles /1 hour 23 minuets approx), and via the A33/A34 to Oxford and the Midlands.
Shopping at Southampton Airport £ 30 million has recently been invested in Southampton Airport making it one of Europe's most modern regional airports. This includes a new duty and tax free shop, World Duty Free, three times the size of the former outlet, with a far greater range of goods offering a saving of up to 17.5%.
The benefits of the Shopping Collection Service is also available for travellers to a destination within European Union. Buy what you want, yes even those fragile or larger items and then collect your purchases from the designated area upon return to the UK, saving the hassle of carrying then around with you while you are away.
Please note however, if you final destination is outside the EU, you may be requested to pay tax on purchases on arrival at your destination and/or if you bring them back when returning to the UK. Newsagents, bookstores, pharmacies and certain other products are excluded.
Tired of shopping, why not put your feet up and have something to eat and drink in one of the restaurants or bars available, with long opening hours to suit passengers.
Business Facilities at Southampton Airport British Telecom and Mercury telephones with good accessibility to wheelchair users are located throughout the terminal. A BT Textphone for the deaf and hard of hearing can be found in the main concourse and in the departure lounge.
The Conference Centre can be hired with a full range of presentation equipment for either a whole day or half day. The facility can also be provided on an hourly basis for meetings, subject to numbers and availability.
The airport has a business lounge for British Airways, which includes use of a fax machine, and Scot Airways' frequent flyers and has introduced electronic ticketing, in co-operation with British Airways.
The Southampton Airport Fire Service conducts commercial and industrial training. Courses can be carried out at Southampton Airport or alternative locations.
